Transcription settings

Control how TellDone converts your voice to text.

Transcription modes​

TellDone offers two ways to transcribe your voice:

  • More accurate for most languages
  • Processed in the cloud
  • Best choice for most users

Apple Speech Recognition​

  • On-device processing - your speech never leaves your device
  • Complete privacy
  • May be less accurate for some languages compared to server transcription

To switch modes, go to Settings and toggle the Apple Transcription option.

Transcription language​

This is the most important setting in TellDone. It determines:

  • How accurately your voice is transcribed
  • What language AI uses for note summaries, titles, and tags
  • What language your reports are generated in

How to change it​

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap Transcription language
  3. Search or scroll through 60+ languages
  4. Select the language you speak most often

Tips for best accuracy​

  • Choose one primary language and stick to it
  • Don't mix languages in a single recording - this reduces quality
  • The Auto setting matches your app's interface language
  • You can change the transcription language at any time - it applies to future recordings only
