Fair-play limits
TellDone uses fair-play limits to keep the service fast and reliable for everyone. Here's what counts against your quotas, plus how to manage your subscription and promo codes.
What counts
Notes per month
Each recording or text input creates one note. Follow-up recordings to existing notes also count as a new note.
STT minutes per month
The time spent transcribing your voice recordings. Only voice recordings count; text input does not use STT minutes.
Recording duration
The maximum length of a single recording. This is a per-recording limit, not a monthly total.
On Pro and Ultra, the iPhone records up to your full plan max (60 or 90 min). The Apple Watch uses chained 10-minute segments and tops out at 60 minutes total even on Ultra.
Webhook deliveries per month
Each webhook trigger sends one delivery. If you have 3 webhooks configured and create a note, that's 3 deliveries.
MCP requests
MCP Access is gated by plan. Pro uses standard quotas; Ultra gets higher quotas with more requests per second and more concurrent connections.
Report generations per day
Manual report requests from the Reports tab. Automatic scheduled reports (daily at midnight, weekly/monthly/yearly on schedule) do not count.
When you reach a limit
- A clear message tells you which limit you've hit
- Your existing data is never deleted, you just can't create new content until the limit resets
- You can upgrade your plan at any time to increase limits immediately
- Monthly limits reset on the 1st of each month
- Daily limits reset at midnight in your timezone
Managing your subscription
Open Settings > Account > "Manage Subscription".
- Bought on iOS (App Store): the App Store subscription page opens. Cancel, change tier, or reactivate there.
- Bought on the web: the billing portal opens. Update card, change plan, or cancel there.
- Promo or gift subscription: managed inside the app. There is no store subscription to cancel.
Promo codes and gifts
New to TellDone? Your first recording automatically unlocks a Pro trial as a Welcome Gift - no credit card needed. You will receive a notification when it activates and reminders as the expiry approaches.
The "Promo code" field is visible on every plan. Redeem it in Settings > Account > "Promo code" (web app) or via a promo link your sender shares.
Gift and promo subscriptions:
- Unlock paid plan features for a limited window
- Show an escalating reminder banner as the end date approaches (gentle nudge first, then a clearer call to action)
- Can be ended early via the "End trial now" button on the Delete Account screen, or from the gift-trial banner (no store cancellation needed since they are not paid auto-renew)
- After the gift or promo ends, your account drops back to Free unless you start a paid subscription
Deleting your account with an active subscription
If you have a paid, auto-renewing subscription, cancel it in the App Store or billing portal first, then delete your account. Otherwise the subscription keeps renewing even after the account is gone.
Promo and gift subscriptions don't need this step; they are managed inside the app and end on their own.

Tips for managing limits
- Check your usage in Settings > Usage
- Use text input when you don't need voice transcription (saves STT minutes)
- Consolidate thoughts into longer recordings instead of many short ones
- On Apple Watch, tap "Continue" at each segment prompt to keep going (Pro/Ultra)
